As a project, sigma 51 has taught us a lot. It has made us realize the value of minute planning and backups. it has made us proud to see so many people coming together under one roof, even after meeting for the first time, to work for a same vision and same goal. This post is first to appreciate the efforts of those people, as well as to acknowledge the fire that a true FTFMite has, in worse of all conditions. we have came together a long way, in last 10 days.

Vikram Kaka

the man who rekindled the ignited minds during sigma51 using his art to make servespoons work for him just right and his dosage of coffes and teas for us. he also the laughter medicine and the punchline for sigma51— “WOW! TAK DHINADIN!!!”

Manashree

the management backbone..the most driven FTFMite, who ran even without firealarm to get things just from anywhere so that everything falls perfectly into place. the girl with “never say die” attitude..and a polite serving even after hardest tries.. to say “YOU SAY..DON’t worry i’ll manage”. the power engine whose fuel tank was always full like her scooty. the girl ought to be given big reward for the work she has done for sigma51.

Manan

the humble lad..one of the most worked actors who played roles ranging from dumb detective to being a sharp ghost. roles to is credit are plumber, public transport, costumewala for sigma51. the guy charged up always from dusk till dawn because his dictionary doesn’t have the word “NO”. NO complaint man..just upright always to satisfy the need off the time.

Karan

our own beloved KEJO..blissed with cracking hathode yet with transparent innocence. his words seem heavy on our head but his work too no less powerful than hammer..unbeatable courage to speak out his ideas and to just approach anyone when it coes to getting the work done. the hammer struck hard on the hospital authorities to get us the permission to shoot there.

Maulik

the director’s actor..who would not even breathe until commanded. genuine smile he puts on always to make u feel “don’t wory things r just perfect” yet ironically he has been the hard guy..the resident thug or gangster in our movies.

Bhargav

the perfect cartoon, who works balance sheets with ease while he rolls others to laughter. he is the popular in-demand, the chosen one..actor for our future animated movie project.

Nirav

the angry young man, ready to help others. silent observer to things..but the frown actually makes the one he’s trying to help feel that “he needs help” . very passionate about making movies..

Hiren

technical guy armed with a guitar to aid music for our films. a genius JACK OF ALL TRADES..with all tools in his box..rolling pin to make rotis for entire team, mouse to install softwares, magical pluctrum to rock with his music. what’s more he can act too..no constraints, absolute freedom with the kinda work he can do.

Jignesh

popularly known as “JIGGGGGGGAAAA”. the wholesole troubleshooter who would work out solutions for just everything..kitchen to computers, resource procurement and management. prepared for the worst always..seems trouble fears approaching when he’s around.

Anup

the cute guy..absolute lala. assistant cook..music composer. magnitude of his smile is always 10 on 10..the most victorious he feels he is! make him do anything, he will. say anything, doesn’t care. lives in own world but creates comfort zone for others by advising them good but least worried about wat goes around.. the AIRCONDITIONER of Sigma51..

Anirudh

this serious looking lad will amaze you with the faces he can make from Chaplin to detectives .the youngest and most energetic guy, who is just perfect at directing and acting both. he would work out his funda of working out everything from concept development to editing of his films, when anyone would hardly notice. all entertaining figure to help you out with just everything–hardware configurations to software solutions with his fast processing brain. BEWARE he would let you scratch your hair and irritate you beyond limits when cracks his POOREST JOKES (typical ‘him’)

the girl who posseses a creative pen to make websites with just as ease as her dormant nods. behind the working of the shutter that unfolds sigma51 website, her fair hands have just worked it right. don’t be amazed when she would hardly speak for hours, she may be a tiger about to attack her graphic preys.

the Tech support of sigma51..tying all the digital knots from laptop and system interconnections to internet hub. hey don’t confine his image to IT.. sci-guy can also act and play guitar to play digital notes for our films.

our very own cinematographer..young at heart that you would hardly feel the age gap. ready to run miles without fuel, geared with his camera all day at the L.O.C to frame just perfect! A ‘NO WORRY MAN’ with disciplined approach towards life.

Last but not the least, our own ‘babbar sher’ who has the loudest of all voices to whip people in shape to start working on time. She has had mood swings throughout the sigma51, but her hard work has more than compensated for it. A writer who is very good at planning because of her realistic approach, she has stopped a lot of large scale mishaps from happening in last 10 days.

the publicity department trying all fundas to make investing options lucrative for sponsors and creating urge and longing among the perceptive audience to see the long-awaited films.

We are busy in the Production management as of now. Our prodcution management team consists of a production manager & other co-ordinates. The whole team is responsible for realizing the visions of the whole unit within the constraints of technical possibility.  This includes coordinating the operations of various production sub-disciplines like – Locations, Actors, lighting, Sound, Projection, Video etc.

Production Managers play a pivotal role on any film production.

The production manager, along with his team is busy  to determine the most efficient and economic way to schedule shoots, negotiate business deals for crews, locations and technical equipment, and make day-to-day production decisions to ensure that productions proceed smoothly.

During the pre-production phase, the production manager tends to  to break down the script page by page, and to prepare a provisional schedule. Its his job to consult with the various Heads of Department to estimate the materials needed, and also assist in interviewing and selecting crews and suppliers to meet production requirements.

A storyboard is a sketch of how to organize a story and a list of its contents.

When a person is done done breaking a story down into its elements – both in terms of its content and the different media one could use – one needs to reassemble all that into a rough storyboard.
A rough storyboard doesn’t have to be high art – it’s just a sketch. And it isn’t written in stone – it’s just a guide.

Creating a storyboard will helps us plan our film shot by shot. Its an amazing ability to quickly transfer  ideas into visual images.

The storyboard artist’s job is to plan out shot for shot the whole film, write all the dialogues, and decide the mood, action, jokes, pacing, etc of every scene.

The storyboard and the storyboard artist is a collaboration where we can pre-articulate exactly the coverage we are wanting to achieve, which to us is essential for particularly complex physical sequences.

The storyboards that we make, conveys some of the following information:

• What charaters are in the frame, and how are they moving?
• What are the characters saying to each other, if anything?
• How much time has passed between the last frame of the storyboard and the current one?
• Where the “camera” is in the scene? Close or far away? Is the camera moving?

The storyboard and script methods are used as conjunction with one another. Creating a storyboard allows to It helps identify the resources (time, equipment, assistance) &  refine - examine the overall story-line.

A storyboard provides a visual layout of events as they are to be seen through the camera lens. In the storyboarding process, most technical details involved in crafting a film  efficiently described either in picture, or in additional text.The process of visual thinking and planning allows us to brainstorm together, placing all our ideas on storyboards and then arranging the storyboards on the wall. This fosters more ideas and generates consensus inside the group.

Storyboarding offers the Art Department a valuable visual tool. It allows the Production Designer, Director and Cinematographer to focus their energies into a controlled frame, and this in our opinion can only lead to an increase in production value.

A screenplay is a document that outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story. Why “outlines”? Because film is a highly collaborative medium and the director, cast, editor, and production crew will, based on the “outline”, interpret the story their way when it is filmed. It may seem obvious, but the movies we enjoy the most tell a story.

Screenplay is the “Blue-Print” of the film. . From a creative standpoint, The major components of a screenplay are action and dialogue, with the “action” being “what we see happening” and “dialogue” being “what we hear”..  Writing a screenplay is difficult enough, but writing a good screenplay is one of the most imperative crafts around. .

Good Screenplays are created when the writer uses his or her Imagination and creativity, skillfully and powerfully. Imagination and creativity is where the writing power and writing success is.

We might love our characters of a particular story and know what they are thinking, but the discipline of screenplay writing is how to show it on a screen.

When writing a SCREENPLAY, we work on three basic factors, namely, CHARACTER, PLOT, and THEME – the three corner stones to tell a great story.

Writing a Screenplay is a tricky task, but all of our hard work will be worth it when people see our films on the screen. Its all about taking some time to learn the craft and developing the best.

As a final product, the screenplay is a well-structured, carefully constructed piece of pseudo-literature. 

It was a day of many emotions… We were supposed to shoot a Promo for Sigma 51… Seeing the clamp was enough to give us goose bumps.. It was a “see-it-to-believe-it” kind of thing. It was an incredibly grueling experience & all that echoed in that ground was “…Action…”

I wish I could put the whole feeling into words… But words fall short.. It was that enthralling..

Talking about the shooting experince, the whole promo shoot  was a  product of teamwork.

Before the shooting began, the director collaborated with the design artists and the actors to make sure that the promo’s look and sound would work together to achieve the final effect that the director had in mind. Creating an appropriate and unified ‘visual language’ was indeed important.

 We started from planning the photography for each shot with our Director of Photography (DP), and our Chief Cinematographer. They brought to us the knowledge of shot composition, film materials, optics, lighting, and color. Behind the whole shoot, they were  responsible for the artistic positioning… The shoot had all elements including.. Running-Pushing-Showing Oodles of attitude and yes, we all made the whole process a good time – made it memorable,we had lot of fun.. At the end of it all, we had a perfect promo… Just as desired.. People, just watch out for us!

While shooting, we came across a major note, that,
No matter how many people are involved in a film production, most of their efforts are aimed at creating images to be caught by the camera. The essence of filmmaking is knowing how to compose the images to be filmed and how to use the camera to capture the images in exactly the desired way.

The time has come to Dare & Endure… Because the Sigma51 team believes that the most important single thing, beyond creativity is daring to dare.. and we DARE to Excel….

As per our point of view, If we want our script to become a viable commodity then it should have:-

A main character who is driven towards achieving a goal.

An opposition to your main character who will hold your main    character back from achieving their goal.

A fight (literal or metaphorical) between main character and their opposition.

An ending which answers the questions “Can the main character achieve his goal?”

To get the above, we try to think of story structure as the framework and foundation of our script, from which we can create a wonderful piece because at the end of the day, it is the story in our script that really gets noticed.

Good scriptwriting is all about original stories, based on real life situations told from a particular point of view. It is the expression of integrity that makes scriptwriting such an interesting art form and adds an important element of realism in screenplays.

We are in the phase right now, where we are chucking around concepts for films.. That is we talk through our ideas with others. Reading scripts takes a lot of effort. Chuck an idea in someone’s face and they can immediately get involved. And every time we tell the story to someone it gets refined, we learn to tell the story better, people throw things back at you – ‘why doesn’t this happen?’, ‘couldn’t she be a suspect’, ‘I’m not sure about the ending, but if they did escape…’ The film starts to evolve. we find ourself thinking out aloud, adding new parts, cutting back on stuff if it gets a bad reception. Its a tradition of oral storytelling.

Ideas come from everywhere..

We have got a habit of scribble down things as much and as soon as possible. Its more like making a film-makers journal.. We have got a book now that’s stuffed full with ideas.. Sometimes those ideas mature and start flowing into each other. We keep doing this and we start to have a number of projects, ideas to work on.

Giving, a jest about our current stat, well, We are busy developing our stories, because at the end of the day it’s the core. Everything in the movie stays relevant to the central story.

Folks.. … We just have a handful of days to showcase Sigma 51..

We are in the midst of our dream..  Saying that we are working hard is an Under-statement..

This craft of Sigma 51 is driven by passion, and it is sole teamwork which needs close co-ordination of all our skills.. The whole crew is segregated for now..
